How we determine the traffic congestion

We divide the causeway area into four segments. First segment starts as you enter the causeway and ends at the customs cabins. Second segment starts at customs and ends at the passports cabins. Third segment starts at passports and ends at the passports cabins of the other side while the fourth segment starts at the passports cabins of the other side and ends at the customs cabins of the other side.

Each segment has its own traffic flow and we measure it separately on a scale of 1 to 5; 1 being clear and 5 being very crowded.

As an example, if one is traveling from Saudi to Bahrain and the traffic conditions to the customs is very crowded and the conditions from the customs to the passports is also very crowded but the final two segments are clear, then we calculate the final condition as:

5+5+1+1=12 12/4=3

This last number points to the average overall traffic condition on the causeway from start to finish which, in this case, is medium.
